Replying to @quantum687 A sweeping grassroots push across Minnesota has successfully forced local leaders to hit the brakes on massive data center developments, even after a statewide moratorium bill died in the state legislature this past May. From Minneapolis to Wright County, local governments are passing urgent six-to-twelve-month freezes on new permits to investigate how these high-impact tech facilities will drain local water supplies and strain the electrical grid. While labor unions and industry groups fought hard to keep the doors open for big tech, everyday residents and city councils are taking matters into their own hands—demanding transparency over corporate non-disclosure agreements and ensuring that public utilities are protected before any more infrastructure is built. #DataCenterMoratorium #MinnesotaPolitics #SaveOurWater #GridReliability #LocalGovernment

#HermantownMN #Duluth #GoogleDataCenter #LocalGovernment #CommunityAction The Hermantown City Council will hold its final crucial vote on the proposed Google data center next Monday, October 26, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Following a 6–1 approval recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission, this upcoming vote targets the critical Special Use Permit regarding building sizes and site layouts. While a successful vote grants local construction clearance for the project, the development still faces active lawsuits and environmental opposition from local advocacy groups. Community members tracking the tech infrastructure project or looking to voice their opinions can attend the session in person or follow the local legislative results online.
