What if I told you that everything that was, everything that is, and everything that will ever be has already been written by Allah? ☝🏽📜 Before the heavens and earth were created, Allah (SWT) had already decreed the destiny of all creation. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Allah ordained the measures of the creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth.” 📖 Sahih Muslim 2653 This divine decree is recorded in Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet). Every soul, every blessing, every hardship, every decision and every outcome is known to Allah. His knowledge even encompasses every possibility and what would have happened had things unfolded differently. But here is where it becomes truly beautiful… Despite knowing our destiny, Allah blessed us with free will. The ability to choose, to repent, to strive and to change the direction of our lives. Allah says: “Indeed, Allah would never change a people’s state until they change their own state.” 📖 Qur’an 13:11 So if everything is written, can our Du’a and choices change our future? 🤲🏽 Yes, by Allah’s will. Our prayers and actions can be the means through which Allah changes our circumstances. Allah says: “Allah eliminates and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.” 📖 Qur’an 13:39 Scholars explain that certain decrees can be conditional, while Allah’s eternal knowledge remains unchanged. Allah already knows the choices we will freely make, the Du’as we will offer and the outcomes that will follow. Our free will does not exist outside His decree. It is part of it. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Be keen on what benefits you and seek help from Allah, and do not give up.” 📖 Sahih Muslim 2664 So make that Du’a. Seek forgiveness. Take that opportunity. Change your habits. Strive for better. Your destiny is written, but you have not been shown what is written. Trust Allah’s plan, but never stop making an effort.
