To be honest, at first the quick rise of AI and AI coding tools made me feel like the years of experience and learning were going to not mean as much. There is so much talk about AI taking jobs that it’s natural for many people to reject AI to some degree. To me, the reality is that AI will definitely fully replace some jobs, but overall will just change the ways of working for many, including software engineers. AI augments our work, make us faster, less error-prone, and power our learning. A.I. doesn’t eliminate creativity, problem-solving, or the need to deeply understand complex systems. It just changes our ways of working around these things. Did/do you have any reservations about embracing AI in your work?

Meta just announced their new “Meta VR glasses”. The details: - 100 grams / super lightweight - Glasses-style design vs. bulky headset - Many similar features as Apple Vision Pro - $1,300 price (compared to Apple Vision Pro at $3699) I think they could actually catch on better than other VR headsets like Apple Vision Pros for example.. …because they address the biggest problem with wearable technology: people will not wear something that is uncomfortable or makes them look ridiculous. The Meta Ray-Bans already proved that smart glasses can become popular when they look like something people would normally wear, while products like Google Glass and large VR headsets appeal mostly to people who like tech a lot. If these can deliver an immersive experience while looking and feeling closer to regular glasses, I think they have a real chance of reaching a wider audience. The hardest part with Meta hardware in general is that they are always fighting uphill against the smartphone; it’s harder for their products to integrate as well with iPhones for sure. Let me know what y’all think, because I might consider getting them, but would y’all ever buy these glasses?

Weird how much the way I work changed in the last few years versus the first 10+, due to AI. I spend way more time deep thinking, solutioning, and architecting that before. Coding actually gave a break from that at times because a lot of the code written was straightforward until you ran into a bug or needed to optimize. How has AI changed the way yall work? Or has it?
