The heaviest weight in the gym is the door. 💪❤️ After beating cancer, I thought I had already done the hard part. But walking back into a gym and starting over? That took a different kind of strength. I’m turning 60 this spring, and I made myself a promise: I’m not walking into this next decade trying to get my old body back. I’m building a stronger, healthier, more confident version of me. Right now, the weights aren’t the biggest challenge. Opening that door and showing up is. I stand with Jane Doe. We need to talk to our kids about what informed consent actually means. Consent is not simply the absence of the word “no.” It must be freely and knowingly given by someone who has the capacity to make that choice—and it can be withdrawn at any time. Being intoxicated, impaired, pressured, frightened, or incapacitated fundamentally changes a person’s ability to consent. The Cornell case is a reminder of why these conversations matter. A person does not give blanket consent to whatever happens next simply because they agreed to drink, use a substance, kiss someone, enter a room, or consent to one sexual act. Consent to one thing is not consent to everything. Consent once is not consent forever. Consent to one person does not convey to the whole fraternity. Believe survivors. Protect survivors. My 2nd week back in the gym as a cancer survivor. 🥹💪 I didn’t have to be the strongest, the fastest, or look like I knew what I was doing—I just had to SHOW UP. And…I showed up FOUR DAYS IN A ROW. After everything my body has been through, I’m learning to trust it again, strengthen it again, and be proud of what it CAN do!! Cancer tested me. Recovery changed me.
