i’ve been thinking about why certain perfumes make the jump from “i love this” to “i need to own this,” and for me, it comes down to something a little deeper than just smelling good. memory: shiver takes me somewhere i can’t completely explain. back to this strangely comforting feeling of being a child, alone in a liminal space, but somehow content. it feels like remembering something emotionally even when i can’t quite remember the actual memory. self-identity + power: marshmallow muff feels like me, or at least a part of me i really enjoy inhabiting. sweet without feeling juvenile, feminine without feeling delicate. i love feeling competent and powerful while embracing being a woman. ideal self + desire: p*rnstar is about who i want to become for a few hours. magnetic, mysterious, sensual, a little excessive. she walks into the room knowing exactly what effect she has on people. she is ideal me. maybe that’s part of why perfume fascinates me so much. it can preserve who we were, affirm who we are, or let us temporarily become someone we desire to be. unfortunately, manifestations of the self are expensive. which one am i full bottling first? @nostos @jackieleemayol @Marissa Zappas @Toskovat’ #perfumetok #fragrancetiktok #nichefragrance #perfumetiktok #perfume
