On 7/5/25, around 5:40 PM, fire departments, SHPD, and SPPD were dispatched oceanside to the Stockton Ave beach for a report of three missing juveniles on the beach/waterline. A coordinated search effort was immediately launched, with patrols sweeping the shoreline while Seaside Heights and Seaside Park Fire Departments deployed jet skis to conduct a modified grid search in the surf zone. Two of the juveniles were quickly located by SHPD officers along the beach. The third remained missing for a short period before being found safe by patrols near Grant St beach. All three were safely reunited with their families. An incredible job by all responding agencies fast action, smart coordination, and a successful outcome.

HURRICANE ERIN ALERT (as of 8/19/25) Hurricane Erin remains a Category 2 storm offshore with winds near 105 mph, sending long-period hurricane swell directly into the Jersey Shore. While Erin won’t make landfall, the ocean impacts are significant. 🚫🏖 Beach closures are in effect through August 23rd at major spots including Margate, Wildwood, Bay Head, and Island Beach State Park. 🌊 Surf conditions: • Consistent 4–6 ft surf with 8-15ft on peak swell day Thursday. • Long-period swell means long lulls where the ocean may look calm or even flat at times — but don’t be fooled. These powerful hurricane-fueled sets arrive suddenly and carry dangerous strength. • Expect life-threatening rip currents, hazardous shorebreak, and strong undertow through the week. ⚠️ Bottom line: Even if the waves look small in the moment, the next set can be powerful and unpredictable. Stay out of the water and respect the closures until conditions improve after the 23rd.

United States Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet had their twin 47-ft MLBs battling jaw-dropping 9–15 ft surf this afternoon, courtesy of Hurricane Erin’s swell. Coxswains drilled inbound and outbound surf operations through some of the most brutal conditions the Jersey Shore sees. These 47-ft Motor Lifeboats are built for this self-righting in under 10 seconds, made of marine-grade aluminum with deep-V hulls, capable of handling 20 ft surf and hurricane-force winds. Behind the wheel are highly trained crews many certified Surfmen after years of training at the National Motor Lifeboat School. Hurricane Erin is now barreling northeast, but the threat remains dangerous rip currents, high waves, and coastal flooding still threaten from the Carolinas through New England.
