I spent a year in Guatemala and had the opportunity to visit some of the most breathtaking nature spots. Here are places to visit if you’re planning a trip to Latin America (including a detour to Belize): 🌋 Volcán de Pacaya (Antigua, GT): Advanced hike given the volcanic dirt (sand-like), option to horseback ride up 💦 Finca Sacmoc (Sacmoc, GT): Moderate hike featuring hidden waterfalls 🛕 Parque Nacional Tikal (Tikal, GT): Ancient Mayan temple ruins deep in the jungle 🏝️ Placencia Beach (Placencia, Belize): The ultimate coastal detour for beach day relaxation 🚣‍♀️ Parque Hu Nal Ye (Chicuxub, GT): Easy hike, water activities (pools, lazy river, water slide) , cenote, ziplining, fishing, camping and horseback riding 🦜 Ranchitos del Quetzal (Purulhá, GT): A peaceful nature reserve to spot the national bird of Guatemala 📍 Cobán (GT): The mountain city I called home for a year ❤️ 💧 Semuc Champey (Lanquín, GT): Intense stair-master hike for incredible aerial views, followed by swimming in natural turquoise pools.
