The Irish Traditional Music Archive was saddened to learn of the death of John Murphy. From Bannow, in County Wexford, John was one of Ireland's leading traditional harmonica players, carrying a unique tradition passed on to himself and his brother Pip by his father Phil Murphy. John performed extensively throughout his life and released the acclaimed album The Trip to Cullenstown with Pip in 1991. His pub in Carrick-on-Bannow is a famous music venue and a central point in the annual Phil Murphy Weekend.
