A lot of moms believe that the more they’re dilated, the closer they must be to meeting their baby 🤍 But the truth is, dilation alone doesn’t give you an accurate timeline. You can sit at 4 cm for 12 hours and still not meet your baby for a while, or you can go from 4 to 10 in an hour and suddenly be ready to push. Labor just doesn’t move in a steady, predictable way like that. Dilation only tells you what your cervix is doing in that moment, it doesn’t tell you how much time is left or how close you are to holding your baby. And I think this matters so much, because focusing on that number can create a lot of unnecessary pressure. It can give a false sense of security when it’s higher, or lead to disappointment and even doubt when it’s not moving the way you expected. Labor is a dynamic process, and so much of what’s happening can’t be measured by a number on an exam. It’s being guided by hormones, your baby, and your body working together in a way that doesn’t follow a predictable timeline. And when you understand that, it takes away the need to constantly measure progress and lets you actually settle into the process. #birtheducation #naturalbirth #laboranddelivery #physiologicalbirth #informedbirth

A lot of inductions that end in cesarean aren’t random.. and they’re not always a sign that your body failed ‼️ Birth is a hormonal, physiological process designed to begin and build on its own timing. When labor is started or sped up without a clear medical need, it can change the way that process unfolds. Induction often leads to a chain of interventions, including stronger contractions, increased monitoring, and less freedom to move, and from there it can continue to build. This is what’s commonly referred to as the cascade of interventions, and in some cases it can lead to a surgical birth. That doesn’t mean induction is never appropriate. There are situations where the risk of staying pregnant outweighs the risks of induction, and it can be the right and necessary choice. But it’s important to understand that induction isn’t risk free. It does carry risk, and it can change the course of labor. Understanding that isn’t about blame.. it’s about being informed so you can make decisions that align with both safety and how birth is designed to work 🫶 #birtheducation #naturalbirth #informedbirth #induction #physiologicalbirth

There are SO many things first time moms just aren’t told about natural labor. And then it starts and you’re like “wait… is this normal?” Most of the time? It is 🤍 Let’s talk about it. ✨ just because your labor is long doesn’t mean anything is wrong. Long labor is so common for first time moms. Slow doesn’t mean your body is failing.. it means it’s opening and working. ✨ your water breaking is NOT an automatic hospital trip. A lot of times labor isn’t even in full swing yet. If you and baby are doing well, there is often time. ✨ dilation alone does NOT tell you how close you are to meeting your baby. You can be 3 cm and close, or 7 cm and still have time. Labor does not follow a specific timeline. ✨ labor at home as long as possible 🤍 You’re more relaxed, more comfortable, and free to move.. and that matters more than people realize. ✨ birthing on your back isn’t optimal for most women. It can actually work against your body. Your body naturally wants to move, lean forward, squat. ✨ interventions are optional. You deserve informed consent. There is a time and place.. but it shouldn’t be automatic. You deserve to know what’s normal. And treated as a competent participant in your birth. Your body is not working against you.. it’s working for you 🤍✨ #firsttimemom #naturalbirth #laboranddelivery #pregnancyeducation #physiologicalbirth
