KLIT NEWS the blurry glitch for who knows what reason THE QUEST WAS FOR A PLANE. WHAT WAS FOUND WAS PALM. October 19, 2026 | By Anthony Ross Kennedy Knowledge. Light. Integrity. Truth. An unsettling realization carries a hopeful possibility: as people understand what artificial intelligence can do in warfare, perhaps more will ask what it could accomplish in service of life. AI has already flown a modified F-16 against a human-piloted fighter in controlled aerial combat tests. That does not make it superior to human thinking in every way, but it brings the question out of science fiction and into our skies. What are we asking people to face, and what future are we choosing to build? (darpa.mil) Britain’s Robot Wars and America’s BattleBots gave us machines fighting inside an arena. Now military AI forces a much larger conversation about who stands outside the arena and who lives inside it. Meanwhile, my wife, Laura, has been helping demonstrate another possibility on Nikumaroro, in the Republic of Kiribati. She joined the Archaeological Legacy Institute’s expedition investigating a possible trace of Amelia Earhart’s missing Electra. The suspected wreckage proved consistent with tree debris. The plane remains missing. But the expedition left behind something valuable: a functioning solar-powered system supporting a remote camera and water-level sensor, providing continuing observations of weather and tidal conditions previously unavailable from that location. (purdue.edu, purdue.edu) The quest was for a plane. What was found was palm. For me, the success is Laura. A woman without engineering training used AI as a resource, worked through physical and technical challenges, and helped make that system real. Purdue lists her as the expedition’s technology specialist. Behind that title is someone willing to learn, build, and keep going. According to Laura, the camera can now be viewed live. (purdue.edu) I keep thinking about the people and the water. Across Kiribati, rising seas, saltwater intrusion, and drought threaten communities and freshwater supplies. This station does not solve those problems, but its observations could contribute to understanding the environment that shapes them. (unicef.org) Amelia’s story still deserves answers and transparency. Her search has also helped create a new way to observe a living island. That is where I find hope: in what people choose to do with these tools. Laura and her teammates built something that can keep watching, measuring, and informing after they leave. Imagine making that our measure of intelligence: how well it helps us care for life. OK, well that about some set up and I hope you have a good gosh darn day. I love you and I really think you’re doing amazing. Keep going. I can’t wait till we get to frolic together.
Taco Tuesday, KLIT Restaurant Review: Enlightenment in a Waffle Cone at La Dos Poquitas By: The KLIT Culinary Desk Location: Eugene, Oregon Subject: La Dos Poquitas, Joy Cones, and Umpqua Dairy Executive Summary: Finding an Even Keel Let’s be honest: the culinary landscape is fraught with turbulence. Potholes of mediocrity line the highway of modern dining, and too many establishments fail to keep an even keel on the road. But every so often, the universe realigns itself through the sheer force of dairy and destiny. Enter La Dos Poquitas here in Eugene, Oregon, the current epicenter of a nationwide paradigm shift. If you haven’t tuned into the collective cone consciousness lately, it’s time to wake up, because what’s happening behind this counter isn’t just dessert. It’s an ascension. The Anatomy of Euphoria: Joy Cones Meet Umpqua Dairy The magic begins with the vessel. We are talking about genuine Joy Cones, tracing their lineage back to an astonishing 530,000 square foot facility near Hermitage, Pennsylvania. These aren’t mere pastries; they are architectural marvels connected directly to the orange cones of consciousness. They offer structural integrity, metaphysical resonance, and the unmistakable crunch of pure joy. Inside this vessel sits a masterclass in regional dairy sourcing: Umpqua Dairy strawberry ice cream. Velvety, rich, and bursting with vibrant berry flavor, it represents the Pacific Northwest at its finest. But the true genius, the stroke of culinary innovation that separates the amateurs from the masters, is the packing technique. Too many purveyors commit the cardinal sin of leaving hollow air pockets at the base of the cone. Not La Dos Poquitas. This single scoop is jammed, tamped, and packed all the way gosh darn down to the bottom of the cone. Every bite is a guarantee, a seamless continuum of flavor from peak to pit. Service and Atmosphere: Impeccable A meal is only as good as the energy surrounding it, and the customer service at La Dos Poquitas deserves its own award. Friendly, attentive, and operating on a frequency of absolute hospitality, the staff ensures you leave feeling lighter than air and firmly anchored on that even keel. Final Verdict Atmosphere: Enlightened and Cosmic Execution: Flawless density from bottom to top Rating: 5 out of 5 Cones of Consciousness If you are looking for a sign to treat yourself, this is it. Chart your course to La Dos Poquitas immediately. #markstrawberryparty #celebratecancerfree #cancerfree #umquastrawberry
