📢 Pepper spray, a chokehold, and overcrowding at Krome Detention Center, report finds. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General has revealed horrific conditions at Krome Detention Center, including severe overcrowding, excessive use of force, disturbing food handling, and more. An immigrant from Honduras told The Miami Herald: "It was a total nightmare. This has been the worst experience of my life. And I’ve never committed a crime." ⚖️ Americans for Immigrant Justice continues to provide free legal counsel for low-income immigrants in the face of uncertainty and separation — and our work begins with your help.
