Just a little memory 🧗🏽‍♀️ Went to Rock City with my oldest and y’all… I was SCARED 😂 like barely off the ground and stuck, couldn’t even let go. Meanwhile she’s calm, talking me through it like “you got it, just do this…” whole time I’m fighting for my life. She really coached me through it though, step by step, and I actually did it. ( i’m still scared of heights, I’m just doing a little better …baby steps ) Crazy how your kids will really be the ones helping YOU sometimes. I don’t even eat breakfast fr… so why do I cook like this?? 😂 No I don’t measure the anciestors just slap me in the back of my head and say stop . Ube pancakes, French toast, beef bacon, sausage, potatoes w/ peppers & onions, cheesy eggs, fresh pineapple, OJ with the pulp & pineapple juice. That ube pancake?? We was NOT ready 😭 the kids don’t even want regular pancakes anymore. Cook with me 🍲🖤 Last night’s menu: a stout roast (but I added wine too… it’s called free will, thank you ☝🏾😂) with potatoes & carrots, cornbread, cabbage, and parm-crusted asparagus. (The asparagus didn’t get filmed.) Don’t mind my clothes or my focus face. I don’t walk around the house trying to impress anybody, I be in here getting things DONE 😂 Despite the mean mug, cooking has always been one of my love languages. I’ve been cooking since I was 3 years old (literally).I’ve fed seven kids, cooked for congregations, and spent a lot of life barefoot in the kitchen. For me, feeding people is more than food. It’s care, connection, comfort… maybe even a little healing. I got a lot of love to give, so I put a piece of it in every dish. As a child, I used to pull my little stool (that was supposed to be for washing hands, not cooking 😂) up to the stove and make lil things like a “bird in a nest” just egg and toast. My mama was asleep, and often going through her own mental health issues. So I was often that kid fending for themselves and siblings when they came along ( don’t worry I was a thug 😎) Honestly, that’s why I don’t ask people for shit now 😂🤣. I’ll do it myself.
