Today also with Monty and his mum, we looked at starting to teach Monty to 'do nothing'. Often a key skill that isn't present in a lot of dogs. One thing you can do if you have a reactive dog is to firstly teach two separate heel cues, one for each leg and secondly use these cues to be able to cue your dog to move to your opposite leg if there is a trigger closest to them. Today was our neutrality group class and we had five dogs attending who all can present reactive behaviours - some fear based, some frustration based.
