Making my own lip balm because I've decided that if I can't make it myself, I don't need it. I used a DIY lip balm kit from @Nature by Amppu (bought with my own money), which made the whole process really easy. I think we could all benefit from making more things ourselves. Not because we need another hobby or should suddenly become completely self-sufficient, but because there’s something really satisfying about learning more about the things we use on a daily basis. I knew it would take time, money and a fair amount of hard work... What I didn't fully appreciate was just how many tools we'd need, how long everything would take, or how one little project could somehow turn into five more. When you're doing the planning and the building yourselves, you're not just renovating a building. You're also constantly solving unexpected problems and trying to learn how to do new things. I would probably not do this again, if I knew beforehand how much work this would become, but that ignorance is what has lead me to waking up in a home I love every morning. Things you can make at home instead of buying... I've been experimenting with making my own everyday products, from DIY face serum and homemade lip balm to calendula balm, deodorant and hairspray. I love discovering how to make things myself. Not because we all need to produce absolutely everything from scratch, but because it's satisfying to learn new skills, understand what goes into the things we use, and realise we have more options than we think.
