This past week we celebrated nine years of YOWIE. What started as a tiny web shop in 2016 has blossomed into a space to grab one-of-a-kind gifts, discover emerging artists at one of our events or art shows and even be your comfy and colorful home base while you’re in Philadelphia. There are too many photos to fit into one instagram carousel so we’re working on something a bit more permanent for next year’s 10 year anniversary (stay tuned!) Thank you to every person who comes through our doors from our first pop-up to the outstanding Piggy Bank show this Spring and to every artist, maker, photographer, designer, brand and organization who has worked or collaborated with us over the years. Our community is what makes YOWIE so special✨ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 🥲🫶🏾❤️ #fyp #foryou #philadelphia #foryoupage #storytime #recap #shopsmall #smallbusiness #blackownedbusiness #womenownedbusiness

There has been talk over the years of having our neighborhood designated as a Vintage District due to the concentration of vintage shops, each one unique and with its own special offering. If you're planning a trip to Philly, our hotel is steps away from some of the best vintage the city has to offer. Here are some of our favorite vintage shops within walking distance of YOWIE Hotel: Retrospect Vintage – The OG vintage shop in our neighborhood, Retrospect is best for graphic tees, vintage outerwear, and more! They also have an Etsy shop if you want to shop after your visit. Raxx Vintage Emporium – Great for vintage jewelry, army/navy pants, and more. Located next to our favorite hardware store, Cohen's! B-Bop Vintage – For lovers of patterns and 70s looks, B-Bop has a playful assortment for browsing and dressing up. Wayward Collection – Expertly curated with some of the most iconic pieces, with designer shoes and accessories to top off your look. We're always impressed by how fair the pricing is for the goods! Moore Vintage Archive – Exceptional taste and encyclopedic knowledge of design make Moore a destination for fashion lovers. Keyshawn often features the work of Black designers as well, such as Patrick Kelly and Lou Badger. Ace Outpost – A great selection of vintage alongside a wonderful place to have coffee or catch up with a friend. Look out for their monthly wine pop-up with local restaurant Mish Mish. At My House – Inclusive sizing makes this collection extra special, and they offer workshops and monthly events to introduce you to makers and artists. Check out their calendar to plan your next visit! Sweet Peel Vintage – Great for eye-catching pieces and accessories. They also carry disposable cameras and film to capture your trip! Vagabond – One of Old City's best boutiques, and those in the know go here for their great selection of jeans and outerwear. Stickball – An elevated curation of clothing and objects. They also hold great events featuring makers and other vintage sellers. Spend some time here—there's lots to see. Snail – A new addition to Old City featuring slow goods, vintage, and homewares. Located in a bright and airy space. A Four Foot Prune – A whimsical collection of homeware and objects that is sure to have something for everyone.
