My daughter’s elementary school has a tradition of transforming the library into a festive maze for the Scholastic Book Fair each year. For this year’s school book fair, themed “Sea You at the Book Fair,” I created a 12 ft x 4 ft fabric mural inspired by The Rainbow Fish. The mural was sewn entirely from upcycled upholstery fabric I saved from the landfill and stitched together with 100% organic cotton thread from Scanfil Organics @scanfilfinethread—a brand I’ve been lucky to freelance with this past year. Using their thread to bring this piece to life felt especially meaningful. Handmade, sustainable, and created with so much love for our school community.
