The tools worked. The backlog and the maintenance took the time back, and I budget 15 to 20% of the build hours for upkeep. From Episode 12 of Excel at AI in Finance. #AIinFinance #FinanceAutomation #CFO

Your AI tools got the number right. Can you show how? If your auditor asked who checked the AI's answer, who would raise their hand? Do you have a record of what you asked the AI to do? More than a decade ago I changed jobs at a former employer. In week 2, management audit showed up and asked me to explain the entire forecasting process. The top-down and bottoms-up forecasts were supposed to tie, and they were off by half a million dollars. It failed the Sarbanes-Oxley control, and 100% of the work being audited was someone else's. I couldn't explain a single part of it, and the moment you can't explain a process, the auditor stops thinking you're new and starts thinking you have no control over it. That was a horrible week. It took almost 4 weeks to clear the audit. A lot of us are doing the same thing with AI. Here are the 3 questions your auditor will ask, and what I'd have ready for each.

Claude for finance, inside Power Automate: I typed one paragraph and Claude built, changed and scheduled a working flow without the flow designer. Every close has chasing in it: the same reminder email to whoever hasn't sent their numbers. Power Automate can send that email for you, but the flow designer loses most people before the first flow runs. In this video I describe the flow in plain English and Claude builds it in my own Power Automate, reading an Excel tracker in OneDrive and sending the reminders through Outlook. This is a beginner-friendly walkthrough of how to use Claude Code for finance work. I show where the Code tab is in the Claude desktop app, which model to pick, how to turn on the Microsoft 365 connector, and then I read the prompt line by line so you can see why each rule is there. Claude shows me its plan and waits for my OK before it touches anything. Then I change the flow twice by asking. First I add an approval step, an Outlook email with two buttons, so nothing goes out until I've looked at the list. Then I put it on a monthly schedule with a summary email, and I have Claude read the run history back to me in plain words. That last part is where AI for finance earns its keep: it is FP&A automation you can supervise without learning the tool. If you run a close, chase people for inputs every month, and have Microsoft 365 but have never built a flow, this is the video.
