It’s not going to take a completely swollen knee away but it can give you a little boost….and at this point, a little is better than nothing. Put some makeup on. Seriously. Many of us living with autoimmune struggle in so many ways. I’ve often found myself not showering for days because of my health, not doing my makeup and just throwing on sweats. When that happens, I look at myself in the mirror and think - damn girl, you a hot mess. I legit look sick, because I am sick. But maybe we can trick our brains a little bit. Think about it. There’s a reason why young teens have naturally rosie red cheeks and bright pink lips - it’s what a humans prime used to be at. We are stretching our lifespan way longer than what it used to be and for those of us with autoimmune issues, being sick, makes us look, well, sick. This is my theory but I think putting on a little blush, mascara and lip tint can help trick our minds to feel better about ourselves not only mentally but somewhat physically. I may not physically feel the best but even if I at least put on a little blush and mascara, I feel better about myself - which has to be doing SOMETHING for my brain and body! What are your thoughts on this???

It’s a dirty dance, this one…. First know that you are not crazy. These thing really can trigger a flare. I see you and I’ve been there. You’re so not alone. I know that once it happens we can often be traumatized by it, feeling like it’s going to happen again. This is where we have to come and regulate our nervous system. Sometimes the fear alone can trigger a flare. Deep breathing and tapping are two of my favorite ways to regulate my nervous system. Try these things THE MOMENT that fear creeps in. The steps aren’t enough…..feeeeeeel the music. You can’t just say, I’m not afraid. You have to genuinely not be afraid in you mind and body. I hope this helps someone ♥️ PS if you are confused at what I am doing in this reel…I’m not sure we can be friends. I mean I’m sure we could but it would take some time for me to trust you 🤣 #autoimmunedisease #rheumatoidarthritis #lupus #ms #hs #flares #nervoussystem
