Explaining Our Past

Time flies faster than we realize. One day, the moments we take for granted become the memories we wish we could relive. ❤️ Slow down. Look up at the moon. Watch the sunset. Spend a little longer with your family. Take the extra walk with your pup. Let them sniff every little thing. Be present for the ordinary moments, because someday, those will be the extraordinary ones. Life doesn’t wait for us to catch up. Love deeply, laugh often, find your why, and don’t keep saving the good moments for tomorrow. Because the greatest gift we have isn’t more time. It’s what we choose to do with the time we’re given. 🐾❤️ #timeflies #cherishthemoments #lifewithdogs #dogsarefamily #liveinthemoment

👻 TEXAS HAS A PHANTOM LAYER… AND IT'S REAL! 🗺️ The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has officially added something unexpected to its Statewide Planning Map for Halloween 2026: a collection of Texas ghost stories, haunted locations, UFO sightings, cryptid legends, and unexplained mysteries! Called the **Phantom Layer**, this interactive map launched October 5, 2026, as part of the Statewide Planning Map's 20th anniversary celebration. Created by TxDOT GIS analyst Elaine Wendt, the project combines historical folklore, local legends, employee-submitted stories, and research into mysterious places across the Lone Star State. And here's the best part: **TxDOT says the Phantom Layer will remain accessible even after Halloween!** 🔎 **7 TEXAS MYSTERIES FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:** 7️⃣ **BIG LAKE — THE GHOST TOWN** Near Big Lake, the abandoned community of Stiles preserves the remains of a once-active West Texas settlement, including its historic stone courthouse. 6️⃣ **SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — THE UFO LANDING SITE** A stretch of Texas coastline associated with an alleged UFO landing and one of the state's unusual extraterrestrial legends. 5️⃣ **ROUND ROCK — THE HAIRY MAN** According to local folklore, a mysterious, wild-looking figure once frightened travelers around Brushy Creek, inspiring the legendary Hairy Man stories. 4️⃣ **MINERAL WELLS — THE BAKER HOTEL** Opened in 1929 and closed in 1972, the historic Baker Hotel became famous for ghost stories involving mysterious encounters and visitors who supposedly never left. 3️⃣ **KATY — THE WOMAN IN THE MIST** Along Old Greenhouse Road, local legend claims drifting mist sometimes forms the silhouette of a woman who died in a car crash. 2️⃣ **PAMPA — WORLEY HOSPITAL** The abandoned hospital was featured on *Ghost Hunters*, where investigators reportedly captured an unexplained figure on thermal imaging. 1️⃣ **AURORA — THE ALIEN GRAVE** In April 1897, a newspaper claimed a mysterious airship crashed in Aurora, Texas, and its alleged nonhuman pilot was buried in the local cemetery. 👽 🗺️ **EXPLORE TxDOT'S REAL PHANTOM LAYER:** https://www.txdot.gov/projects/planning/statewide-planning-map.html Open the Statewide Planning Map, accept the disclaimer, and find **Phantom** in the Overlays menu. Select locations to discover their stories and history! The map is real. The paranormal claims are folklore and reported experiences, not verified supernatural events. ❤️ **HIT LIKE if you enjoy Texas history, mysteries, and unusual places!** 👇 **YOUR TURN:** If you could investigate ONE of these seven places, where would you go? Tell me the number and WHY in the comments! 🧠 And don't forget to answer the BONUS POP QUIZ in the poll! #tiktokscaryhorrorcontest #halloween2026 #TexasHistory #HauntedTexas #RoadTrip
