There are experiences you don’t talk about because they’re too painful to explain. I reported what happened because I believed the people in authority would protect me. Instead, I was referred back to the very person I had reported. Imagine having the courage to speak up, only to feel like nobody was listening. It could have broken me completely. But it didn’t end my life. I survived it. Grateful to my bestie’s husband who happened to be my friend and course mate back in uni. I kept going. I became stronger. And I’m still here. Sometimes, surviving isn’t about having the perfect ending. Sometimes, it’s simply refusing to let what happened to you become the end of your story. If you’ve ever been failed by people who were supposed to protect you, I hope you know this: What happened to you was not your fault. And it does not get to define the rest of your life. 🤍
