St. John the Baptist was Jesus’s cousin. He preached about the coming of the Messiah and baptized Jesus in the River Jordan, marking the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. His birth was considered miraculous since his parents, Zechariah and Elizabeth, were elderly and had no children. An angel announced his birth to Zechariah & told him that John would be filled with the Holy Spirit even before his birth. John boldly condemned the immoral behavior of Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, for marrying Herodias, his brother’s wife. This led to John’s imprisonment and eventual execution by beheading at the request of Herodias’ daughter, Salome. #johnthebaptist #johnthebaptist #preparethewaythemessiahiscoming #prepare #happybirthdaytoyou

Sometimes we’re not sure if asking for the saints to intercede for us is in the Bible. We’re challenged about the validity of asking someone to pray for us, instead of going directly to God. The truth is, we can, do, & should go “directly to God”, no Catholic should ever claim that we don’t have access to God. But God also commanded us to pray for one another. He asserts that whoever believes in Him, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in Him will never die; which is why Catholics believe that when someone dies in friendship with God, they’re body might be lifeless on earth, but their soul is VERY much alive in heaven. We don’t cease to be members of the Body of Christ when we die! We become PERFECTED members of the Body of Christ 🙌🏼 That, coupled with James’s declaration that “The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful!” & who’s more righteous than the person who’s already living in the perpetual presence of the Giver of life, the God of the living, He who defeated death??? 🙌🏼🎉🥳🎊 Finally, Revelations (probably the most Catholic book in scripture—in MY OPINION), describes the “elders and angels offer up the prayers of the saints [on earth] as incense before the throne of God." The only way for this to happen, is if God allows them to hear & be aware of our needs & prayers ❤️ What a generous & loving God we serve 🙏 #intercesion #prayforme #prayforus #prayforoneanother #prayforeachother
