A dark skinned Black woman kept getting approached by men on a train. She repeated no thanks with a smile yet they kept asking. One male kept saying, “give me your number”. As her smile faded & her fear multiplied, she kept saying, “no”. I walked up to her & said, “babe this is our stop, you ready to get off?” She grabbed my hand, smiled hard & said, “yes honey”. After I scolded the men, I walked her off & waited with her for the next train after asking is she ok. She cried, “thank you, I was so scared. How can I repay you?”… Me: “My name is Ebrahim Aseem Protecting women from bad men & providing safety is my job & gift as a man. Every man ever born was birthed by a woman, that’s a woman’s gift to us all. You owe me nothing” Her: “can I buy you coffee or can I get your number so I can take you to dinner one day? I feel indebted to you” Me: That traumatic experience has you vulnerable rn. I never take advantage of a woman’s vulnerability or trauma but if I see you again I’ll ask your number ok?” Her: (sigh) “you better” Men, let’s protect our women.
