We love you Steve ♥️ This truly was the hardest pancake I ever had to make, not for its technical difficulty (though it was difficult, that's a tough expression to get right!), but because Steve Irwin meant so much to me. I'm grateful this pancake gave me 4.5 quiet hours to sit with the pain of his loss and reflect on how he inspired me, while pouring a lot of care into a piece that I only hope his family would enjoy if they saw. Fun fact: my original reference image was one of him calmly smiling with a croc (Google Steve Irwin, you'll see it), but I felt a picture of him being more excited felt closer to the Steve I remember. Thank you all for your lovely comments yesterday sharing memories of Steve and his impact on you; I was shocked at just how many I got to read all day, which brought a lot of comfort. So many of you were deeply inspired by him in ways that changed your life and continue to instill your choices with empathy, and I think there's something incredible about that. Steve was a zookeeper and conservationist in Australia with a TV show, it's so easy to imagine a timeline where we never knew his name, or we watched an episode and forgot about it. And yet so, so many talk about this man like they've lost a part of the family. How incredible is that? I think that's just what happens when you're blessed enough to see someone in action who makes it clear their mission is to give and give, who shows the best humanity has to offer, again and again and again. Thank you, Steve, for everything. Your mission and light live on always 🐊♥️

Miss you, Steve 🐊 Hardly a day has gone by in 20 years that I haven't wished the Crocodile Hunter was still with us, doing what he loved and sharing his infectious, over-the-top passion for conservation with the world. I was eight when he passed, and I still remember the disbelief vividly. No one is replaceable, but Steve Irwin was genuinely one in a trillion, and in a way, I still am in denial that he had to go so soon. But I don't want to dwell on his death, as that isn't what he would have wanted, and his legacy proudly carries on and has for decades. In his lifetime, he bought and converted hundreds of thousands of acres of land into wildlife reserves, all while inspiring millions of people with his tv shows, showing off his pure enthusiasm for wildlife at every opportunity. His mission also continues through the work of the family he so adored- his son Robert, his daughter Bindi, and his wife Terri, who have all gone above and beyond in carrying the torch. They all have major leadership roles in running Australia Zoo in Queensland, as well as continuing the nonprofit charity Steve and Terri started, Wildlife Warriors, which fights for the conservation of endangered species and crucial natural habitats. They are all TV and media personalities, using their platforms to inform and excite audiences about the natural world and put a spotlight on misunderstood species, just like Steve did. And, according to their Instagrams, at least two of them are on crocodile research expeditions right now. They are my Royal family and you cannot convince me otherwise. I truly believe Steve would be beyond proud. Robert's memorial post today says, "Thank you, Dad, for showing me and the entire world what it is to truly live. To lead with empathy, to treat every living being how you'd wish to be treated, and to be passionate in everything you do." Bindi's says "I always thought my dad's legacy is wildlife conservation; it turns out, his legacy is love." I hope we can all carry a piece of that legacy with us 🐊♥️

Making a pancake of a national hero 🫡 It's easy for an event like this one to seem completely absurd, but then you remember how much absurd cruelty has already been normalized around us, and it kinda starts to make more sense. Like what do you mean there are Nazis gathering in the streets but it wasn't really news until spiderman descended upon them Sharing this story in case you're like me and somehow missed it when it first happened. As much as it sucks to have this be news at all (the violent racism and bigotry, I mean), it's so, so refreshing to see someone bravely stand in the face of hatred and swing (seriously, I know the seconds before that jump must have felt scary as hell). And then getting to see the people from all over rally behind that hero in his hour of need? Something tells me Spidey is gonna be able to pay that lawyer Would you do the same in that situation? I wonder that all the time. Anyone can wear the mask 🕷️

GIVE HIM THE OSCAR 🪨🏆 Emily here - @/ryan_gosling_fans_uk on ig asked fans of Project Hail Mary to send in some fan art so she could compile a booklet for James Ortiz, and I wanted to pay him tribute the most creative way i know how 🥞 (stick around til the end for a bonus pancake!) I was introduced to James's work through his endearing performance as Rocky in PHM, but he’s been a prolific creative in the theater scene for many years. He designs sets and puppets of all sizes, he's a playwrite, a trained actor, and a killer drag queen- it’s cool to see such a multitalented guy get his flowers! Let's give him more flowers. I'm sure he can stash them all in his humongous hair @James. Ortiz. hope you love it! 💐

We've all heard the news about Ghost Rider 💀🔥 that's gonna be a longass skull What is it about Ryan Gosling? Project Hail Mary broke something in our artist Emily's brain this summer, and everyone else seemed to fall in love with this man LONG before he was Kenough in the Barbie Movie. I–Dana, who filmed this video– can even attest that, as a lesbian, he IS the exception. too bad he's Markiplier's 🥀 Something ancient and undeniably magnetic radiates from this man, and it would be more terrifying if he didn't seem so darn nice. Try as we might to not be entranced by him... damn. He really is always flying off some exploding vehicle somewhere, huh. Can't wait to see him do it as a skellington. Hey ghost. I mean, they Enjoy this pancake of him! I need everyone to know this is the fastest and easiest I've ever seen Emily make any pancake portrait. Genuinely, that is not a bit, it was terrifying @Eva Mendes #ryangosling #ghostrider @Marvel Entertainment @Project Hail Mary

Jimothy, the short-spined king from Seattle has officially stolen our hearts. Paying tribute in the only way we know how, we turned this amazing little raccoon into pancake art. It's not easy being different, it's a brutal and unforgiving world out there, but here comes Jimothy, persisting against all the odds! We love him, and we hope he lives a long and fruitful life, and we REALLY hope he loves pancakes. Viva la Jimothy!
