Do you think I’m spooky? I love being spooky, and spooky things like the X-files, Monster High dolls (I’m dressed like a Clawdine Wolf doll in this), vampires (because that’s who I am and the lifestyle I live), the occult and non-mainstream spiritual practices, the paranormal, horror movies, goth music and the gothic aesthetic, Dia de Los Muertos, Death Studies and Culture, everything Halloween, and more. When people find out that I have the black melancholy loving heart of a gothy vampire, it can really spook them. They are scared to think of me as something beyond the bright happy costumes and pretty (safe) dolls, and sometimes they think that even having a house full of thousands of regular dolls is frightening in its own right, with all those eyes looking at them! I think we all need to have a little bit of spooky in us. It helps us maintain balance. We can’t just always be all love and light. We also need to recognize our darkness and understand that it is an integral part of what makes us a whole being. By recognizing those dark parts of us, and not being afraid to accept them as part of ourselves, we can start to be more truly accepting of ourselves as a whole and love ourselves the way we were always meant to, unconditionally. We don’t have to act on all those dark parts of ourself, but just recognizing that they are just a part of who you are can help you become, unapologetically, the amazing and multifaceted person who you were always meant to be. So go be weird, do strange things, imagine yourself living a bizarre life, pretend and play at being to be scary thing in the dark that you always secretly found intriguing, and don’t be afraid to be spooky.
