🚨 SERVICE-CONNECTED GERD? CHRONIC ACID REFLUX CAN CAUSE MORE THAN HEARTBURN! PRIMARY → SECONDARY VA DISABILITY SERIES | EPISODE 15 Long-term gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may cause damage to the esophagus, throat, and teeth. 🔥 PRIMARY: GERD (ACID REFLUX) 👇 5 POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: 1️⃣ Reflux Esophagitis – Repeated stomach acid exposure can inflame the esophageal lining, causing pain, irritation, and difficulty swallowing. 2️⃣ Esophageal Strictures – Chronic inflammation and scarring may narrow the esophagus, causing swallowing difficulties and sometimes requiring dilation. 3️⃣ Barrett’s Esophagus – Long-term reflux can change the esophageal lining and increase the risk of esophageal cancer. 4️⃣ Dental Enamel Erosion – Acid reaching the mouth may gradually damage tooth enamel, causing sensitivity and other dental problems. 5️⃣ Chronic Laryngitis – Reflux reaching the throat may contribute to voice-box inflammation, hoarseness, and persistent throat irritation. ⚖️ IMPORTANT VA RATING RULE! Under 38 CFR § 4.114, Diagnostic Code 7206, GERD is evaluated primarily using documented esophageal strictures and their severity. Some complications may already be included in the GERD evaluation. Five diagnosed complications do not automatically mean five additional ratings. 📋 WHAT EVIDENCE HELPS? ✅ Established service-connected GERD ✅ Medical documentation of complications ✅ Endoscopy, swallowing studies, or relevant specialist evaluations ✅ Evidence connecting a distinct secondary disability to GERD ⚠️ REMEMBER: Secondary service connection is not automatic, and VA cannot compensate the same manifestations twice. 📖 38 CFR § 3.310 — Secondary Service Connection 📖 38 CFR § 4.114 — DC 7206 💬 Are you rated for GERD? Have you had an endoscopy or developed complications? 🔖 Save and share this with another veteran! HASHTAGS: #veterans #vadisability #vabenefits #vaclaims #disabledveteran
🚨 50 VA DISABILITY CONDITIONS WORTH KNOWING ABOUT! From PTSD, migraines, tinnitus, and back injuries to respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions, this master list covers 50 disabilities and medical conditions veterans may encounter in the VA claims process. ✅ Physical disabilities ✅ Mental health conditions ✅ Neurological disorders ✅ Respiratory conditions ✅ Chronic illnesses ✅ Injuries and residual disabilities ⚠️ IMPORTANT: This is an educational list, not an official ranking of the 50 most commonly approved VA claims. A diagnosis alone does not establish service connection. 💬 HOW MANY OF THESE CONDITIONS DO YOU RECOGNIZE? Which disability should we explain next? 🔖 Save this reference and share it with another veteran! #veterans #vadisability #vabenefits #vaclaims #disabledveteran

Some conditions may be evaluated as part of the primary disability rather than separately. 📖 38 CFR § 3.310 💬 WHICH PRIMARY DISABILITY DO YOU HAVE?
