FROM THE KITCHEN TO THE CROWD — THE VIRGINIA BLACK EXPO WAS A VIBE! Yesterday, @Chef Darius O 👨‍🍳 and Wakeena Dickens came out the kitchen and had the incredible opportunity to represent Down Home Comfort Café at the Virginia Black Business Expo in Richmond and Chef Darius was right where he belongs: leading the crowd! 👨🏾‍🍳❤️ Together, we gave a live cooking demonstration featuring one of our Louisiana favorites: Jambalaya. Chef Darius walked the audience through the process, shared some of his culinary knowledge, and when it was finally time for everyone to taste it… NOT. ONE. SAMPLE. LEFT. 😂 And with thousands of people registered, 150 vendors, entrepreneurs, food trucks, entertainment, community leaders, and powerhouse guests all gathered under one roof, the energy at Main Street Station was amazing! Events like the Virginia Black Expo are about so much more than business. They’re about visibility, connection, culture, collaboration, and showing what happens when Black businesses are given a platform to shine. We’re grateful to the Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce for creating this space and for giving us another opportunity to share the food, story, and experience of Down Home Comfort Café with Virginia.
