Today is Day 1 of making the impossible happen and bringing my story, @My Darling , to Hollywood! In the past 9 months, the story has traveled around the world and reached millions of people. To my surprise, it reached Hollywood. It's amazing what you can do with a tripod, a cellphone, & consistency. I wish you could join me in today's meeting. Would love to have you there with me representing such a special story. I'm connecting with writers who have written films we have all loved. I respect them greatly. But there is no rush on my end to push this through Hollywood quickly. We want to find the right people - someone we trust and can confidently pass the baton to - to champion my grandmother's voice. My grandfather actually pitched his love story to CBS in 1959 and CBS responded! "In general, I feel that we have a beautiful third of a feature here and need to examine our surroundings and other people in order to find the other two-thirds." I will do my best to find the missing two-thirds and finish what he started. love y'all - thank you for watching and spending time with me, you are the reason this story is traveling. After knowing eachother for 1 hour, writing 160 love letters, and 10 months of yearning — my grandparents were reunited and married 80 years ago today! October 21st, 1945 To celebrate, I wanted to introduce you to my new backdrop for our videos! Please welcome our new bookshelves where I have scattered a ton of easter eggs from the story. If you know some of them, share them in the comments! You can even see their letters on the shelves! But my favorite so far is the clock. Each letter was written during their shared coffee hour at 4:30 in the afternoon. It’s almost as if we are now stuck in time! & no anniversey of Bill and Helen’s would be complete without some coffee and doughnuts! (I feel like I am in theatre class everyday I wake up. I LOVE it)

I am illustrating my grandparent’s love story! They only knew each-other for an hour before the war separated them and they relied on letters to communicate. Over 10 months and 160 letters, they went from penpals to falling in love. The next time they were reunited, they would get married! But there is a story within my grandmother’s writing that portrays a lonely Red Cross girl who is confronting her own past & feelings. As she shares them and dives deeper, Bill falls more and more in love with who she is. I wanted to bring you into the world of Bill and Helen and introduce you to the shadow. The wolf portrays her low self esteem and cynical views of herself — because sometimes we stand in our own way. If we can get out of our way and lose our own shadow — another adventure might be waiting.

After 9 months, I am FINALLY holding my grandmother’s 75 year old scrapbook. She documented her entire WW2 love story. So freaking cute - she actually turned it into a book, tying the pages together with a string accompanied by her very own artwork….titled “Pacific Romance.” This holds pages and pages of original photos, memorabilia, and hidden gems. I flew a last minute red eye to Virginia & I CANNOT wait to dive in…I love this story! 💜 Last year we found a shoebox with all 280 of their love letters. Now we have her narrative storytelling as an outline of what was going on in the world around her. The perfect combination to help share their story with the world… (After a short nap)
