Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto recently advocated for three Nevada lands bills to be heard in a Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The bill for Southern Nevada and two bills for Northern Nevada strike a balance between conservation and economic development. Thank you, Senator Cortez Masto, for being a strong Public Land Protector by urging these bills to be heard and moved through Congress. We would like to also thank Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen and Nevada Representative Mark Amodei for their support of these bills.

🚨 Tell the Bureau of Land Management: Don't Rubber-Stamp Big Oil’s Plan for the Western Arctic. Visit the link in our bio or www.conservationlands.org/westernarctic to submit a comment today! The second comment period to defend the Arctic is now open until November 9 – ACT NOW to make your voice heard before it’s too late. Following the administration’s earlier action to open 80 percent of the Western Arctic (NPR-A) to oil and gas development, the Bureau of Land Management is now heeding an oil and gas industry request to gut environmental review for oil and gas development across the landscape. The question raised by this proposal is bigger than any single road, pipeline, or drill pad: Is unregulated industrial oil and gas development more important than the serious consequences to the people who depend on those lands and waters? Once "rubber-stamping" development becomes the standard for the largest, wildest public landscape in the country, they’ll claim there's no argument left for protecting anything smaller or less remote. Animated clip is from "The Simpsons Movie" (2007). Western Arctic video footage by Florian Schulz, Protect the Arctic. #ProtectTheArctic #ActNowForPublicLands #defendthearctic
