I felt this for years before I had a name for it. I’d feel unstoppable at ovulation. Then within days (sometimes what felt like overnight) everything would collapse. Motivation gone. Brain fog so thick I couldn’t string a sentence together. Emotions that didn’t feel like mine. And I had absolutely no idea why. I blamed my discipline. Maybe it’s my mindset? My faith. I thought I just wasn’t trying hard enough. I was trying harder than anyone around me. I just didn’t understand what was happening inside my body. Here’s the biology nobody taught us: Just before ovulation, your body produces a surge of oestrogen (and oestrogen is one of the most powerful regulators of dopamine in the female brain) It boosts dopamine synthesis, increases receptor availability, and slows dopamine breakdown. For women with ADHD, who are already running on a dopamine deficit, this window feels like relief. Then the follicle ruptures. The empty follicle immediately transforms into a structure called the corpus luteum, a temporary gland that floods your body with progesterone. As progesterone rises rapidly, oestrogen drops sharply. And with it, your dopamine support drops too. Progesterone also counteracts many of oestrogen’s positive cognitive effects and research suggests it can even reduce the effectiveness of ADHD stimulant medication during the luteal phase. Research has now identified the post-ovulatory phase as a primary window of ADHD symptom worsening in women. The shift can happen within days of ovulation. Not just the week before your period… right after ovulation. For women with ADHD, this isn’t just hormonal fluctuation. It’s losing your biggest dopamine support system at the exact moment your brain needs it most. If you’ve ever felt like a completely different person within days of ovulation! So no.. you weren’t imagining it. You weren’t failing. You were experiencing a real, documented neurobiological event that most doctors have never been trained to look for. #adhdinwomen #biohackingforwomen #ovulation #cyclesyncing #adhdawareness

this morning, before the world woke up, we paddled out into the ocean at sunrise and formed a cross in the water to remember what today is really about. Resurrection Sunday at @wavepoint.church in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa hits different every year. There’s something about being out in the open ocean, surrounded by His creation in all its glory, that makes the weight of what Jesus did feel so real. no fancy production. no stage. just salt water, a community of believers, and a saviour who conquered death. and to the one who doesn’t know where they stand with God right now. the one who is tired, a little lost, or just quietly searching for something more… this is for you too. you don’t have to have it all figured out. you don’t have to be in a church building. you don’t have to be “religious.” Jesus didn’t die for the perfect. He died for the real. and He rose again so that your story doesn’t have to end where it is right now. that’s the whole point of today. He didn’t stay in the tomb. and that changes everything. He is risen. He is risen indeed. 🙏🏽 📍Jeffreys Bay, South Africa 🌊 @wavepoint.church #surfcommunity #christiansurfers #heisrisenindeed
