I in fact did not moisturise my whole body 👀 #thirdtrimesterhumor #pregnant #tired #mumtok #showerroutine

Preparing for maternity when you’re self-employed is a completely different conversation. There wasn’t a policy telling me when to step back or someone else ready to absorb everything. I was still leading multiple teams while dealing with pregnancy brain, exhaustion and a body that changed every week. Luckily, I wasn’t building from scratch. I’d already created a way of working that supported my life, including not needing an alarm to start work. But one maternity plan wasn’t enough. I needed one for my COO responsibilities and another for my CEO responsibilities because each role needed something different from me. I had to get honest about what genuinely needed my input, what someone else could own and what could be automated. That included creating AI skills I could send on so the systems weren’t stuck in my head. The biggest lesson was that good leadership isn’t making yourself essential to every decision. It’s building enough clarity, trust and systems that the work can keep moving when you need to step back. Could your business keep moving without you? #selfemployed #maternityleave #womeninbusiness #businesssystems #workingmum
