People sometimes ask… if your scans are clear, does that mean you’re cured? For me, unfortunately, it doesn’t. I’m incredibly grateful to be in complete metabolic response. Right now, my scans aren’t showing metabolically active cancer. But I still live with Stage 4 breast cancer, and I continue treatment every three weeks. Both things can be true at once… enormous gratitude for how well treatment is working, and the reality of living with metastatic breast cancer. I’m starting a weekly Q&A here every Wednesday to talk openly about Stage 4 breast cancer, treatment, scans, research and everything in between. What would you like me to answer next? Still Lounging | Studio Edition Print You know those summer afternoons when the sun is warm, there’s a breeze drifting through and you’re still in the same spot you were hours ago … perfectly happy enjoying life. That’s the feeling I wanted this piece to hold. It began with my original painting, Lounging Around. I’ve brought it together with patterns and elements from other artworks I’ve painted to create this studio edition. I love how the layered borders sit together … familiar pieces becoming something new. I can picture it in a relaxed coastal home, with timber, linen and the doors open to the breeze. FDA approval… what does it mean for the rest of the world? News of a new cancer treatment overseas can feel very personal. It brings hope… and questions about when that progress might reach us here in Australia. The recent US approval of a new tucatinib maintenance combination for HER2+ advanced breast cancer is an encouraging step. But FDA approval, Australian registration and affordable access are different milestones.
