Harrods vs Selfridges. Which smells better? I bought the Harrods Fragrance Advent Calendar, then saw Selfridges was offering 4 more fragrances for exactly the same £225. So which actually has the better-smelling selection? Mojave Ghost Absolu vs Dead Serious. How close are they? 👀 First, a little confession. I actually filmed this back in August, and it’s been sitting on my editing table ever since! 😂 Getting videos edited and out the door has been a bit of a nightmare lately, so I’m very much behind on myself! Anyway, back to the fragrances! I’ve tested Bujairami Dead Serious several times, and unfortunately, it doesn’t quite capture what I love about Byredo Mojave Ghost Absolu. The biggest difference for me is the opening. The OG has this beautiful, bright, vibrant fruity floral quality. Dead Serious has some of that fruitiness and floral character too, but it’s much more muted. It doesn’t have the same punch, and it fades considerably quicker. Dead Serious moves into a woody, sandalwood-heavy dry down much sooner, while Mojave Ghost Absolu holds onto that bright fruity floral character for longer. Once they settle, the similarities become more noticeable, with musky sandalwood and a gentle warmth coming through. My verdict? For around £50, Dead Serious is a nice fragrance in its own right, but for me, it doesn’t come close enough to the OG to be a convincing alternative. Of course, fragrance is subjective, and your experience might be completely different! Have you tried either of these?
