The removal of Confederate statues from public spaces is becoming part of a broader American reckoning with what—and whom—we choose to honor. Virginia’s removal of its final Confederate monuments from Capitol Square is especially symbolic: the statues aren’t being destroyed or erased from history; they’re being relocated to historical settings where they can be preserved and interpreted without occupying places of civic honor. There’s an important historical parallel with Germany after World War II, when authorities removed monuments, emblems, street names, propaganda, and other public symbols associated with the dictatorship that had devastated Europe. Germany did not erase that history—it continued teaching it, preserving evidence of its crimes, and building memorials to its victims while making a distinction between remembering history and publicly glorifying it. America is increasingly confronting a similar question with the Confederacy: Do we need statues of its leaders standing on government grounds to remember the Civil War and slavery, or can we preserve that history in museums, battlefields, books, and classrooms without giving those figures places of honor? Removing a monument doesn’t remove history; it changes who society chooses to celebrate. #ConfederateStatues #AmericanHistory #BlackHistory #HistoryMatters #LearnFromHistory

So for the crime of standing up against a racism and trying to hold his department accountable, he was fired and then sued by the l.a.p.d just putting this out there if your duty is to protect the public equally. Wouldn't it be a conflict of interest? If you hold racist beliefs and wouldn't that obviously affect your ability to fulfill your obligations in an equal? Just an unbiased manner ... #goodcop #acab #danielflorez #america #racism
