IM A DAY LATE BUT YOU GET IT WHATEVER🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 i swear the #chernobyl incident isn’t talked about enoughhh!!!!! #fyp #xyzbca context since so many of you guys are asking (get ready to read my essay) On 26 April 1986, the Unit 4 RBMK reactor at the nuclear power plant at Chornobyl, Ukraine, went out of control during a planned test at low-power, leading to an explosion and fire that demolished the reactor building and released large amounts of radiation into the atmosphere. While some areas might begin to revive in 150 years, parts of the 30km zone, specifically around the reactor, will likely remain uninhabitable for 20,000 to 120,000 years. Over 4,000 people died. The soviet union tried to keep the explosion a secret until nearby countries and such noticed the acceleration of radioactive air. The Elephant's Foot is a highly radioactive, solidified mass of molten corium—a mixture of nuclear fuel, concrete, sand, and metal—formed during the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster that flowed into a basement corridor beneath Reactor No. 4. You cannot touch the "Elephant's Foot" in Chernobyl. It is a highly radioactive mass of molten nuclear fuel (corium) and the most dangerous object on the planet!! Approaching it, let alone touching it, would deliver a fatal dose of radiation within minutes, leading to acute radiation syndrome and rapid death.
