Yesterday my family went to the beach. Our dog Jack was having the time of his life. Eating salt water and jumping through waves. Jack was on a leash the entire time. A white and light tan pitbull mix approached Jack multiple times. They were playing and just being dogs. However, this dog was not leashed. This dog came over two or three times before the last time when something changed and this dog latched onto Jack’s head. When the dog finally let go the owner said nothing to us. No apology. No is your dog okay. Nothing. He just ran away like a coward. Thankfully Jack will be okay but he has four puncture wounds around his head and neck area. He had to get stitches. It all happened so fast we did not get pictures or videos. This dog was latched onto my sweet Jack for minutes. Not seconds and the owner fled with his dog. The owner was an older man with a red folder chair. The dog did have a blue rabies tag on its collar. Please help us. This dog is dangerous. You can not have dogs off leash. Moments before the attack a little girl approached Jack. We have no fear of Jack being around anyone or any dog. This dog could have latched onto that little girl. We need help identifying this man and his dog. The attack happened around 3:45 pm Saturday September 13th on Westerly Town Beach. A police report was made but we need help. Please if you saw anything, know this dog or man, know people in the area. Please please help us. #westerly #rhodeisland #pleasehelp
