This was our second visit to Aioli in Birtley and it won't be our last! We went for their valentine's tasting menu and were super impressed, so we didn't hesitate to book again for their Ibiza Classics inspired menu when dates got released. It's tiny inside but the vibes are immaculate. FAT UNICORN | SUNDERLAND Ad | Yesterday we headed down to Mackie's Corner for a very exciting brunch at Fat Unicorn. It was also the return of Music at Mackie's, from live singers and saxophonists to 90s anthems, it was a lush atmosphere and the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Sunlun.  Fat Unicorn is a gorgeous delicatessen packed with everything you could need to create the ultimate picky bits platter. Their shelves are packed with an incredible selection of cheeses, cured meats, wines, craft beers, chutneys, spreads, crackers and so much more. If you're after something a littke more traditional, they also serve toasties, soup and great coffee from their hot menu. We tried their Sip & Graze offer, which includes two glasses of wine, a meat platter and a cheese platter (which can be customised based on your tastes) for just £35. The selection of accompaniments was spot on, from dried fruit and capers to pickles and plenty of crackers. Everything was delish. Of course, we couldn't leave without picking up a bag of Torres crisps to take home too! If you haven't visited yet, definitely check them out! Ad | True Padel is home to the largest padel venue in the North East, with two locations in Durham and Sunderland. We headed along to the Sunderland venue which is located on Wessington Way.  The Sunderland site has 7 doubles courts and 4 singles courts, plus an indoor heated sports lounge, café and social spaces where you can grab a drink or order a pizza after your game. I love a bit of badminton, which, as I very quickly realised, is nothing like padel. I definitely missed more shots than I hit but I had a lot of fun and would definitely play again. Plus after working from home all day, it was a great way to get my steps in. Afterwards we headed for drinks and pizza. We went for the pepperoni and margherita, and both were lush. The courts are brilliant, super spacious and loads available and it's the perfect place to have a catch-up with your pals afterwards.
