The fit is a little brooks brothers but that seems fitting for Vampire Weekend. I love FotB but I wanted to choose a more formative song. Vampire Weekend changed the trajectory of my music tastes as a nerdy 16 year old kid in suburban Texas. So recently I was diagnosed with autism. The other day my friend asked me how I was doing with the diagnosis because he knew someone in his life that had really struggled with an identity crisis after their diagnosis. And for me, at this point, I’m kind of past that stage. It was a pretty long road to get an official diagnosis, and don’t get me wrong, these last several months my entire life was completely turned upside down, disassembled, and reevaluated, so I’ve had time to think about it and accept it all. And since I have, I think it’s more that I finally know who I am. Or beginning to know. And I kind of just want to spend time with that person. With myself. And enjoy it. I used to see it as such an ambivalent thing—being alone with my thoughts. I kind of want to see what I create without the pressure to post. Plus, I have another book I want to write. I have more than just one really that I have been working on, but they’ll have their time. Right now there’s one that’s been waiting patiently for me to have the energy, and I think I finally do.
