I left the US on August 31 to fly to the Philippines for life saving surgery after I was completely failed by the US health care system. I had multiple failed surgeries, extremely rare life threatening conditions, and took the leap of faith flying to the other side of the world to meet a team of surgeons who said they could save me. The only team, in the entire world, who said they could help me. My surgery was scheduled for September 4, but on the evening of September 3 my team told me my body was too weak and not stable enough to go under for surgery. Soon after we decided to get married in my hospital room. Nick and I knew we were each others person. And it’s true when they say “if you know, you know”. So we knew we’d eventually get married. There was no better time then now. Things were looking very grim for me, and I felt my body completely shutting down. So these 10 minutes of happiness made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Anna also flew to the Philippines for the same reasons as me. We connected online the last 4.5 years because we both went to the same surgeon in the US who failed us. Now a full circle moment of us being on the other side of the world getting life saving surgeries, and her marrying Nick and I. Shortly after the wedding, I almost passed away in Nicks arms. He kept saying my name over and over. Physically held up my head. Saying my name and saying it wasn’t my time. Finally on September 7, I went into surgery. I barely made it. Nick was there by my side the entire time. I’ve died a handful of times in my previous surgeries. But this time I lived, and I’m no longer dying. This is the true definition of “in sickness and in health”. I survived because of Nick. Because of a team that saved me. And my faith in God. The grim reaper has tried countless times, but God has bigger plans for me. I true miracle story. I am so grateful to be alive. For my husband. For my team. For God. I wanted to take a minute to put this together because you never know what a person is going through. I’ve gone through everything with a smile on my face, and the assumptions and judgements some people make of me is sad. Just because you see me smiling and laughing and dressed up, doesn’t mean everything is fine. I’ve had countless surgeries the last few years, with intense long recoveries and it’s been a never ending cycle. Each time I come back with a smile and don’t complain. I’m a human. I can also only take so much. I love every day with gratitude. Just because I don’t fit the “image” of a “sick person”, doesn’t mean I’m not fighting the battles I’ve been. I’ve been making the best of my situations for as long as I’ve been able. You don’t see what I go through every day unless you’re in my life. And I thank everyone who’s been here. Whether it’s from day one, or this week. So many people silently battle challenges each day. Some never talk about it. Hi everyone. For those new here my name is Aidan. I’m 31 and was born with intestinal malrotation, along with a laundry list of other health issues and birth defects. I started having life saving surgeries in 2022, however, things went wrong, covered up, and after 5 experimental surgeries at the same hospital here in the US- I’ve been neglected, experimented on, messed up for life, and left to die. The last surgery there was October 2025. The last 3 months my health took a serious decline. I’ve unintentionally lost 30 lbs, have unable to eat food (only able to have liquids), been in severe pain and still issues with using the restroom. The functionality of my surrounding organs have been declining and malfunctioning. I haven’t had any improvements since the surgeries started. Through the power of social media I recently connected with a girl from Canada also born with malrotation. She had her life saving surgery in the Philippines. This week I connected with him and he said he is going to save my life. Surgery is for the first week of September 2026 in the Philippines. I am currently raising the funds for this: $25,000 to pay the hospital bill upfront (which is required to do before the set my actual surgery date and can proceed). Then I will need to stay at a hotel next to the hospital for about 4 weeks before returning to the US. This is all if everything goes as planned with no interruptions - but we are anticipating and preparing for them due to the severity of my case and how badly I was operated on so far. I’ve spent the last 31 years of my life in pain and sufferings. 16 years of doctors + hospitals. 4 years of experimental surgeries gone wrong, 3 months of things turning for the worst, and 3 weeks away from finally having some hope.
