Grew maize last year? Don't switch to a later variety yet 🌽 After two dry years it's tempting, but in a normal year a later variety can leave you harvesting in a wet autumn. Check these three things first: aspect and slope, altitude, and soil type. Save this for seed ordering 📌 @Farmers Guardian @Farmers Weekly #maize #maizegrowing #ukfarming #farming #agronomy

If I'm not prepared to go into farming right now, why should I ask anyone else to? 🚜 Inheritance tax on family farms, bungled SFI launches and no grip on food security. All farmers want is the support to produce food, look after the land and make a living, for this generation and the next. Would you go into farming right now? 👇@Farmers Guardian @Farmers Weekly #farming #ukfarming #farmers #inheritancetax #farmertok

Should holiday lets be taxed like second homes? 🏡 The Treasury is reviewing it ahead of the Budget on 28 Oct, and it could add £1,000–£3,000 a year to small rural businesses that average just £5,000 profit. We're told to diversify… then this. There are about 4 second homes for every holiday let in England. Who should pay more? 👇 Figures: PASC UK; MHCLG; VOA (FOI). Not yet decided. #holidaylets #farming #ruralbusiness #budget2026 #secondhomes
