What should we do when things go dark and digital connectivity stops? Not ideal if you're in the office toilet 😅 But as a simulation, I tested my Ready Bag in a space without lights or Internet. It was also my first time tuning an FM radio in a long while, and it reminded me why staying prepared matters. As the digital world evolves, our preparedness must evolve too. When systems go down, we must find a way to stay connected! 🫡 I definitely learnt a few things... To update my Ready Bag, revisit the ABC tips... and maybe not film in the office toilet next time 😬 #ExerciseSGReady #AreYouReadyForDisruptions #ad #WeAreTotalDefence #WeCanOne

Highlight of last month🌻 It’s been a long while since I last volunteered to spend time with elders, and not only did it remind me of my school days, it reminded me of my late grandparents too. From asking about my marital status to urging me to finish my soy bean curd before it turns cold, it was a mixture of nostalgia and warmth. :") I used to be a very active student who spent most of my holidays volunteering. After graduating, the guilt of not being able to volunteer as frequently because of work commitments and adulting responsibilities was something I had to slowly make peace with. The two hours I spent at St Luke's ElderCare reminded me that volunteering is not about comparing time or commitment. It is about being present within our own capacity. Every little bit of good counts, whether it is volunteering daily, monthly, a few hours of showing up, or even choosing to be kind in our day to day lives. However, I understand that it is not always easy to carve out time, and that is okay too. I just wanted to share that taking some time to do something I love while volunteering made my day, and I walked away feeling like I received more than I gave. 🫡 So friends, if you ever have the time and capacity, @giving.sg is readily there for you to find an activity that brings you and others joy. 🫶🏻 At our own pace, Within our capacity. "We even trained for my IPPT together." And that’s how my brother and I became closer. Growing up, we didn’t have the best relationship. But as we got older, we slowly learned to appreciate each other. And I never would have imagined that it was through serving our country that brought us closer together. While I chose to serve with the SAFVC (before and after signing on), my brother went through National Service as a PNSF and is now a regular in the police force. Different paths, but somehow we found common ground through it all. From sharing my army stories with him, to watching him grow, and now seeing him become a police officer who carries himself with so much pride…I’m really, really proud of him. I haven’t been posting as actively lately, but one thing I’ll always be grateful for from the army is the friendships I’ve made. The kind where people check in on you, even when you go quiet. The kind of sisterhood and brotherhood that lasts a lifetime. Thank you em and zie 🌻 I hope everyone is coping gently. And thank you to the friends who have been checking in on me too. I’m doing much better, and I’ll be back real soon. Here’s to many more years of the Tay siblings serving the country in ways that we can. Adel 🌻
