6 years in trading, 7 things I wish I knew on Day 1 ⬇️ 1️⃣ You don't need to watch charts all day. I thought I needed to be glued to the screen from open to close to grow my capital. Now I trade the first two hours of the market open and the rest of the day belongs to my daughters and business. 2️⃣ Stop boundcing around different trading strategies. I watched a million YouTube videos and lost $23,000 doing what they said. None of them made me profitable. The key was sitting with one framework long enough to actually understand the underlying principles and what I did. 3️⃣ Master three before you touch a fourth. I traded everything at once and couldn't tell you why I was in half of it. What I should have done is to master the indices (QQQ, SPY, IWM + Mega cap stocks) before expanding. 4️⃣ Risk before profit. I used to plan exactly what I'd make, but I never planned how much I was actually willing to lose. Not setting a stop loss is probably one of the biggest reasons why I blew two accounts. 5️⃣ Emotional control. I used to treat every loss like I needed to trade better, but it’s just a part of the job. Red days can happen, what’s important is how you manage and handle that. 6️⃣ Profits. I was up $80,000 on one swing and walked away with $30,000. Do not overtrade and cash out when you should. 7️⃣ Mentor. I tried growing without a mentor. Looking back, I would've gotten help much earlier instead of trying to solve everything myself.
