In this video, a specialized Russian crew is using a surplus military howitzer to intentionally trigger a controlled avalanche. This technique, known as avalanche mitigation, is used by mountain safety teams worldwide to prevent unpredictable disasters. The team fires explosive shells into specific "trigger points" where they know snow has reached a critical, unstable depth. The resulting explosion creates a massive pressure wave that fractures the weak layers of the snowpack. This forces the snow to slide down on their terms, while the roads are closed and the slopes are empty, rather than waiting for a natural collapse that could catch skiers or villagers by surprise. Why use a cannon? While many resorts now use remote-controlled gas pipes or helicopters, traditional artillery like this howitzer is still used for its pinpoint accuracy and long range. It allows crews to hit dangerous, inaccessible peaks from a safe distance at the base of the mountain. The power on display here is a perfect example of fighting fire with fire, using a controlled explosion to stop a much larger, uncontrollable force of nature. #russia #cannon #avalanche #regit

This footage captures one of those rare moments where the sheer weight of nature's responsibility is on full display. You can see the silverback move with a heavy, deliberate grace as he claims the center of the road, positioning his massive frame like a literal barrier between his family and the world. He isn't being aggressive or seeking a confrontation; he’s simply performing the quiet, essential work of a protector. His eyes stay fixed on the humans and the vehicles nearby, radiating a sense of authority that commands immediate respect from everyone watching. As he holds his ground, the rest of the troop begins to emerge from the thick brush. It’s a fast-paced procession of mothers and juveniles, all moving with a sense of urgency that shows they know this open road is a point of vulnerability. The most striking part is seeing a mother trot across with a tiny baby clinging tightly to her fur, a sight that makes the silverback’s stoic vigil feel even more significant. He stands there like a mountain until every last member of his family has cleared the path, proving that in the wild, leadership isn't about power, it's about service. Once the road is finally empty, the tension breaks. The silverback doesn't wait for a round of applause or linger to show off his size. He takes one final, cautious scan of his surroundings to ensure the coast is truly clear, and then he slips back into the dense green shadows of the forest to join his family. It’s a powerful, human-like display of fatherhood that reminds us how universal the instinct to guard our loved ones really is. #gorilla #animals #nature #protector #regit

Stephen McDaniel killed his neighbor and classmate Lauren Gidding, and during police interrogation, he sat completely still for nearly 2 hours, barely blinking or moving. Investigators later said it was one of the most unsettling interrogations they’d ever seen.
