Roseville has approved a city-run recycling and garbage transfer center on farmland near Phillip and South Brewer roads. The city currently collects its own trash and hauls it to a landfill and recycling plant run by the Western Placer Waste Management Authority, a regional agency formed by Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln and Placer County. The City Council voted 5-0 on Oct. 7 to approve the 150-acre project, which would also include offices, truck storage and equipment space for utility crews. The approval commits no money, and city staff must return to the council before work begins. No cost estimate, funding plan or potential effect on garbage rates was provided. Activity at the site could still be four to five years away, according to the city’s utilities director. Learn more about this at link in bio #rosevilleca #placercounty #wastemanagement

A neighborhood group is asking Roseville to overturn approval of Sierra View Shopping Center, saying the city has not adequately studied how traffic, noise and air pollution would affect nearby homes. The 58,000-square-foot center is planned at the southwest corner of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Fiddyment Road. Plans call for a grocery store, shops, three drive-throughs and a 24-hour gas station. The City Council will hear the appeal Wednesday, Oct. 21. Planning commissioners approved the project Aug. 13. More about this in bio. #rosevilleca #roseville #placercounty #newdevelopment

Shake Shack and Pollo Campero could replace the vacant former Home Savings and Loan bank at Arden Way and Exposition Boulevard in Sacramento. A developer wants to demolish the 30,235-square-foot building and replace it with two drive-through restaurants and a third commercial building for two additional tenants. Pollo Campero, a Guatemalan-founded fried chicken chain, would open its first Sacramento-area location. The Sacramento Planning and Design Commission is scheduled to consider the project Thursday, Oct. 22.
