A doctor at 30! Dr. Kindness Nwakudu is in the building. What a birthday gift! 😂 Today, I have been blessed to make it another year around the sun. But this birthday hits different. This month of May has been so busy, but in many beautiful ways. Graduating from medical school with my whole family by my side, preparing for graduation parties and celebrations, and most of all hitting the big 3-0! As I reflect on my life, I thank God for how truly beautiful it has been. Difficult at times, but there is beauty in those moments as well. As I start a new decade, I am looking forward to growth. Growth in who I am as a friend, sister, and physician. My community of family, friends, church, neighbors, old coworkers, and more really came through for my graduation party. Surprisingly I didn’t cry at graduation but at this party, I was boohoo crying! I’ve been on this journey for so long and having folks remind you of where you once started to now, really puts things into perspective. My elementary school principal, kindergartner teacher, and boss from my medical assistant days came and this immediately sent me to Baby Kindness, where she wrote down that she’d be a doctor. I thank all the different parts of my community in person and online because these are the people who have constantly prayed for me, who have listened to me cry and vent, and who ensured I had a life outside of medicine.
