Did you know you can climb 2 of the most iconic scrambles in the UK in just 48 hours? 📍 Tryfan via North Ridge (Grade 1) 📍 Yr Wyddfa via Crib Goch (Grade 1) Both these climbs are very fun, but not to be taken lightly. Between the 2 routes they have the largest amount of rescue callouts out of every mountain in Wales. So if you’re going to attempt these climbs always check the weather forecasts thoroughly. The conditions can change so fast on these ridges so wear proper clothing. How did we do crib goch and what is it actually like? ⛰️ Accomodation: basecampwales - cheap & friendly Parking: Laybys along the A498 near the Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel (If they are full you can park in Nant Peris & get the shuttle bus to the start of the Pyg Track for £8) Weather: Mountain Forecast, Met Office, MWIS Route: Pyg Track → Crib Goch → Garnedd Ugain → Yr Wyddfa → Pyg Track Navigation: OS Maps - download the offline route Time: 5-8 hours depending on pace and conditions It was easier than I expected but I highly recommend having some scrambling experience before trying this or atleast going with someone who has experience as it’s very exposed in some sections and the initial scramble can be tricky to navigate. Most accidents happen on Crib Goch due to the weather so only attempt in clear, dry, low wind conditions and never force it if the forecast isn’t right. (And please don’t take your dog up there!)
