Adoptable Ruby had a big day yesterday celebrating Dragon's Tooth Dog Training’s grand opening! She got dressed up in her best pink bandana, was a perfect passenger on the ride over, and wasted no time making friends once she arrived. She greeted everyone, demanded plenty of belly rubs, and even squeezed in an impromptu training session with Sam which she passed with flying colors, of course! Ruby is a 6-year-old all-around amazing dog who would make a wonderful addition to a family. She can be a little hesitant around some dogs and prefers canine friends with calmer manners, so she’ll need a meet & greet with any potential dog siblings. She did great around older, dog-savvy kids yesterday, especially once they started giving her treats. 😉 A big congratulations to Dragon's Tooth on the grand opening! Time and time again, we see cats who are spicy, shut down, or shy in the shelter open up once they’re given time and patience in a home. We strongly believe Frankie and Roy will be another one of those "they just needed someone to give them a chance" situations. Frankie and Roy are a beautiful bonded pair of 8.5-year-olds who were surrendered due to their owner’s health exactly six months ago. Frankie is a handsome boy with heterochromia and is the more trusting of the two. Roy, on the other hand, acts like the big protective brother and is known to give a hiss or two if you get too close. With not a tooth to his name, his threats are admittedly a little less intimidating... They’ll both need patience, space, and time to learn that people can be safe. But more than anything, they deserve the chance to experience life in a loving home again. They may never be your cuddly lap cats, or they may surprise us all. Either way, we know there’s something pretty special about being the person who finally gives them that chance. What it’s like to be loved by Barney: Absolutely no sense of personal space. Constant sniffing. Hugs. Demands for pets, which you won’t mind because he has the SOFTEST fur. And, if you’re really lucky, a few of his signature corn cob nibbles on the chin. But being loved by Barney also means understanding where he came from. Before arriving at AoA, Barney was found living outside in West Virginia and later spent months tied up outside. Those experiences have stuck with him in a few ways. He can be hesitant when meeting new people, especially men, and he sometimes guards his food, something that could be worked on with patience and training. At almost 3 years old, Barney has so much love to give once he knows he can trust you. He’s looking for someone who will respect his past, give him the time he needs, and in return, get one incredibly loyal companion who will make sure they never have personal space again.
