All the prep work that no one sees. Hand made stuff takes time. You get quicker the more you do, but there is always a setting out stage that no one sees. The less glamorous stages. Sharpening heads, cutting blanks, planing, matching woods for the palm swells, gluing, etc… I try and do somethings in batches. So blanks cut together. Palm swells set out together. Heads sharpened together. Here I’m selecting some Spalted Beech, curly Eucalyptus, Yew and Ash for various jobs. One is having a quadruple laminated palm swell of Yew and Ash. Hence the long bits of wood that will be glued up and then cut down so the palm swell grain matched either side. Hopefully. #craft #handmade #maker

Kent pattern refurb. A few edits influenced by the superb videos @diesineveryfilm knocks out. Nowhere near as expertly done by me. Something to aspire to. We all need heroes in our lives. Even if they are Northerners. I’m okay saying that as my wife is from Yorkshire. #maker #craft #handmade

Please share, share and share again. Trying to battle the Instagram shadow ban as I’m not visible to non-followers. Give the amazing @mattmurrayfilms a follow as well. Immensely grateful for his patience and skill. Let me know what you think of his film? I quite like it. 🙂
