## 🚨 THE EDUCATION TRAP IN KINSTON 🚨 **Peace and Black Power! QueButter here.** Kinston has incredible talent, but too many young people are growing up in a **STEM desert** with limited access to engineering, robotics, AI, advanced math, and hands-on technology. The numbers show why this matters: 📉 About **27.9% of Kinston residents live in poverty** 💵 The citywide median household income is about **$36,878** 🖤 For Black households in Kinston, the median household income was only about **$32,543** in the 2019–2023 Census estimate 👥 Black residents make up approximately **67.6% of Kinston’s population** When students are not exposed to advanced STEM and career pathways early, it limits their options and helps keep cycles of poverty going. That is why **The XyayX Institute** is here. We are bringing: 🤖 Robotics ⚙️ Engineering 💻 Artificial Intelligence 🖨️ 3D Printing & CAD 🔌 Electrical Engineering 🌱 Environmental Research 📚 African Studies We are not simply opening another school. We are building pathways to college, technical careers, entrepreneurship, and economic mobility directly in the community. If you work in STEM, education, business, or the skilled trades, we need mentors, partners, donors, equipment, and volunteers. 🎓 **Now Enrolling K–12** 🌐 [www.thexyayxinstitute.org](http://www.thexyayxinstitute.org) ❤️ Support our mission: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Buildthefuturewithxyayx **Let’s build the opportunities Kinston deserves.** #KinstonNC #EasternNC #BlackSTEM #EconomicMobility #Engineering
🚨 BROOKLYN, LOOK AT WHAT WE BUILT! 🚨 Peace and Black Power! QueButter here. ❤️🖤💚 Take a look inside The XyayX Institute’s Brooklyn location—rooms filled with technology, equipment, and opportunities for our children to build, design, program, and create. And I want to emphasize something: This was built by a Black man, for our children, in our community. Not just talked about. BUILT. 🤖 Robotics & Automation 🔌 Electrical Engineering 💻 Physical Computing & Embedded Systems 🖨️ 3D Printing & CAD 🧠 AI & Computer Science 🌱 Environmental Research ⚙️ Engineering & Hands-On STEM 📚 African Studies & Social Justice We have the space, equipment, curriculum, and vision. Now we need families and the community to take advantage of it and help us grow. 🎓 K–12 ENROLLMENT IS OPEN! And if you're an engineer, scientist, electrician, programmer, educator, business owner, mentor, or simply someone who believes our children deserve these opportunities—GET INVOLVED. Volunteer. **PART 2: THE BROWNSVILLE EDUCATION GAP** Peace and Black Power. QueButter here. ❤️🖤💚 In Part 1, a lot of people got caught up debating whether another housing development was larger. **That was never the point.** And this is not about, **“I made it, so everybody else should be able to make it.”** The larger issue is what happens when **poverty, limited educational opportunity, violence, incarceration, and a lack of culturally reflective education** all exist in the same communities generation after generation. When young Black students rarely see engineers, scientists, doctors, inventors, entrepreneurs, or even their own history reflected in what they are learning, that matters. Opportunity shapes expectation. **What children are exposed to affects what they believe is possible for them.** That is an economic issue too. If our communities do not have strong pipelines into **advanced mathematics, engineering, computer science, medicine, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, and technology**, we cannot be surprised when too few of our young people enter the careers building wealth and shaping the future. And we also need education that helps Black children understand **who they are, where they come from, what our people have contributed, and the historical systems that created many of the conditions we see today.** That is why **African Studies and Social Justice** are intentional parts of The XyayX Institute's academic model. Our own curriculum includes studying African civilizations before colonization and examining colonization and social justice, rather than beginning Black history only with enslavement. Our broader course framework places African Studies alongside the Institute's academic and STEM pathways. **And this is bigger than Brownsville.** You can find versions of this same problem in Black communities across New York City and throughout this country: concentrated poverty, fewer advanced opportunities, underexposure to STEM careers, and educational content that too often fails to reflect the children being taught. **This is a Black issue that we have to prioritize.** We need our best and brightest—**electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, network engineers, doctors, surgeons, scientists, architects, tradespeople, entrepreneurs, and educators**—to pour knowledge back into our communities. That is why **The XyayX Institute** is building pathways in: ⚡ Electrical Engineering ⚙️ Engineering Design 🤖 Robotics & Automation 💻 AI, Coding & Embedded Systems 🌐 Network Engineering 🖨️ CAD & 3D Manufacturing 🌱 Environmental Science 📚 African Studies & Social Justice We cannot just identify the pipeline to poverty. **We have to build a competing pipeline to knowledge, STEM, careers, ownership, and leadership.** 🎓 **K–12 Enrollment is Open** 🌐 **[www.thexyayxinstitute.org](http://www.thexyayxinstitute.org)** ❤️🖤💚 **Support our work:** [https://www.gofundme.com/f/Buildthefuturewithxyayx](https://www.gofundme.com/f/Buildthefuturewithxyayx) 💵 **Cash App:** $XyayXTheMovement **Brownsville is one example.
