I love New Year’s resolutions. I love the concept of taking inventory of your habits and vowing to make improvements, whether we stick with them or not. Last year was incredibly transitional for me, as it was for many of my clients as well. Transitions are tough and scary, but they’re also the perfect time to start new habits, because you’re already rewriting your reality. 2025 really proved to me just how my dependence on technology has hindered my health. I self-soothed during stressful times by binge-watching TV, procrastinated getting up in the mornings by doom-scrolling on my phone, and spent my days bouncing from one screen to the next. Don’t get me wrong, I love my shows, I love TikTok, and I love online shopping. But my addiction to technology has left me feeling lethargic, behind in life, and socially isolated. It’s crazy how constantly being “connected” can actually further separate you from those in your life. And I know a lot of you feel this way, too. I may be a bodyworker, but I’m also a human trying to navigate the complexities of living in the 21st century, just like you. So I know that your 90-minute session with me may be one of the only moments you’re able to truly disconnect, and I don’t take that lightly. It’s why every session includes guided breathwork and meditative experiences throughout. We all know it. Our addiction to technology is bad for our health. It’s bad for our nervous systems, bad for our routines, bad for our self-esteem, bad for our ability to get moving, and all of these things affect our lymphatic systems. Technology can play such an amazing, important role in helping us become healthier individuals, but the flip side will have long-term negative consequences. It’s about picking and choosing where we can. 💙Switch to a standalone alarm clock. This one step alone will benefit you in unimaginable ways. If you struggle with maintaining a routine, getting out of bed on time, and often feel lethargic, keep your phone away from your bed at night and in the mornings. 💙Create a home for your phone. This can be any box or vessel you find. The ritual of putting your phone away in the evenings helps train your brain to wind down. You’ll sleep better and wake up more refreshed, ready to tackle the day. 💙Consume physical, long-form media. A book, a magazine, an actual newspaper. This calms your nervous system, gives your eyes a rest, and helps lengthen your attention span. 💙Journal by hand. So chic, so special to go back and look at where you were a week ago, a month ago. Excellent for calming your nervous system. 💙Wear a watch. This keeps you from checking your phone and unintentionally getting sucked back in to a notification or an app. 💙Write letters. Bring this healthy dopamine boost back! Write letters to your friends or loved ones. Make it a ritual. 💙Create a conversation pit in your home. I’ve decided to get rid of my television and instead create a living room that is focused on social connection. You don’t have to go this extreme! But setting up your home in a way that encourages gathering, discussion, and other types of entertainment will help keep you successful on this journey. 💙Cook from a cookbook. When was the last time you did this? (It also saves you from scrolling through someone’s entire. life. story. when all you want is the recipe). 💙Bring a book or cards to a coffee shop. Enjoy your espresso without scrolling. 💙Limit ChatGPT. No judgment here at all! But I highly suggest reading MIT’s study on ChatGPT’s effects on our brains and you’ll want to refrain forever. 💙Driving home from memory, not Maps. Back in college, I learned our younger generations have the worst memory. So finding ways to use our memories is going to help us in the long-run. If you need a jumpstart on disconnecting, a 90-minute bodywork session will give you to unplug, relax, and be present. Email to book. #farowellness #lymphaticdrainage #lymphaticmassage #tmj #tmjrelease
I highly encourage eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially because nutrients from food tend to be more bioavailable, (your body can absorb and use them more easily than many supplements). Most Americans are deficient in many vitamins, including selenium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin E, and B12. If Trader Joe's is your grocery store of choice, here are some amazing options that make getting these nutrients feel a lot less daunting than downing a handful of horse pills every morning. 🥜 Brazil Nuts Brazil nuts are basically a straight selenium vitamin. Just one or two nuts provide all the selenium you need in an entire day. Just PLEASE don’t eat more than 2, as selenium can be toxic in large quantities. Also avoid trail mixes or products made of Brazil nuts, where it’s easy to overconsume. ✨ Nutritional Yeast = Just one tablespoon contains a significant amount of several B vitamins, including thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), B6, B12, and folate. My love for nutritional yeast knows no bounds. I put it on eggs, pasta, vegetables, chicken, popcorn... almost everything. 🐚 Mussels = an incredible source of vitamin B12, zinc, and iron. 🦪One tin of oysters can provide your entire daily zinc requirement. Important for immune function, wound healing, thyroid health, reproductive health, hormone production, and maintaining healthy skin. 🌱 Hemp Hearts = rich in magnesium, manganese, and copper, while also providing protein and anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats. And you can add these to basically anything/everything. 🥄 Tahini (+sesame seeds in general) = an underrated source of calcium, magnesium, copper, and other trace minerals. Makes a fantastic dressing, sauce, or dip. Don’t even get me started on Halva. One of the first questions I ask my clients is: do you feel hydrated? Americans are notoriously, chronically dehydrated. What we assume is a normal, inevitable symptom of life or aging can often be caused or exacerbated by dehydration. It’s not just dark urine and headaches that will tell you that you’re dehydrated. Sometimes it’s things that are harder to trace. I’m not saying that these maladies are caused by dehydration or cured by simply drinking water. But if your water intake is low, increasing it might be a good place to start. Hydration is one of the main pillars of overall health. Improving this one area can do wonders for your physical and mental health. #lymphaticdrainage #hydrationtips #hydration #drinkmorewater

I highly encourage eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially because nutrients from food tend to be more bioavailable, (your body can absorb and use them more easily than many supplements).
