Our 2 year old Aussie started having seizures out of the blue last month and has since been diagnosed with epilepsy. People don’t really talk about the effect a diagnosis has on pet parents. Of course you’ll worry about your dog. But I don’t think you realise just how much your daily life can change until you’re living it. Even when they’re doing well, a little part of your brain is always on alert. And then there’s the little wins that mean everything. A peaceful night, another seizure-free day, seeing them happy, playing and being their usual selves 🥰 We’re still very new to all this, but I’m so grateful that she’s still our happy, crazy girl between episodes. Around 1 in every 100 dogs has epilepsy and It’s different for every dog. Some can go years without seizures thanks to medication and some aren’t so lucky. I’m sharing this for awareness and because I know we aren’t the only ones feeling this way. If you’re a fellow epilepsy dog parent, you know it’s so much more than seizures and medication. Sending you lots of love and hoping you reach that next milestone 🐾❤️ #CanineEpilepsy #EpilepsyAwareness #EpilepsyDog #AustralianShepherd
